Case Study - a new revenue channel from modularized products sold as data as a service (DaaS)
The client wanted to create modularized products based on their existing intellectual property, which consisted of methodology, questionnaires and a scoring system and reporting framework. The client had everything necessary to create a fully customized product to be delivered in a templated, modular form.
The client briefed that they wanted three components:
The core
Additional optional modules
Custom sections available at additional cost
Each component was to include sections and question sets as well as individual questions.
The intention was for questionnaire design to be built around fixed questions but with the ability to have full flexibility with substitutions, extensions and the ability to switch out and make changes to the survey while maintaining the automation of data production steps including survey programming, visualization and reporting.
The client had an existing Forsta license for survey hosting but wanted flexibility and freedom to migrate the new system to another hosting platform in the future if it made commercial sense to do so.
This required the Sequence team to create the following functionality:
An interactive template system for module design
A XML output for the Forsta survey hosting platform that included the clients branding and survey design elements, including custom designs
Automation of the data cleaning process
Automation of data weighting
Data automatically prepared for BI tools
Data automatically prepared for R for analysis
The Sequence team delivered a fully integrated and automated solution for the client. The client was able to create a new way to market and charge for their existing intellectual property that attracted new clients at a new price point and allowed both their new and existing clients to experiment with their products easily and more economically.
